Our Legacy
Hester Biosciences Limited is one of India’s leading animal healthcare companies and is the second largest poultry vaccine manufacturer in the country. Founded by Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, Hester began its journey in 1987. Over the years, it has transformed from a small proprietary trading business into Asia’s largest one-stop animal biological manufacturing facility. We now have a strategic presence in over 30 countries, while focusing on key market needs in India, Nepal and Tanzania. We have also partnered with various organisations over the years including Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, GALVmed, Golchha Organisation, and our latest foray into the Egyptian market with Novapharma, to name a few.
Headquartered in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, we operate through four broad verticals: Poultry Vaccines, Poultry Health Products, Animal Vaccines and Animal Health Products. Additionally, in an effort to provide our customers with end-to-end solutions, our services include seroprofiling kits and diagnostic labs for poultry flocks, and mastitis control programs for cattle.

Commenced operations as a propriety concern to distribute poultry medicines and feed additives in Mumbai, covering the districts of Thane and Raigadh.
Formation of Hester Pharmaceuticals Private Limited, with the objective to acquire the exclusive marketing rights of overseas brands for the Indian market.
Hester Pharmaceuticals signs an exclusive marketing agreement with Ghen Corporation, Japan, for its range of poultry feed additives and with Maine Biological Laboratories (MBL), USA, for its range of poultry vaccines.
The Company signed a technical and financial collaboration agreement with MBL, to manufacture poultry vaccines in India.
Hester Pharmaceuticals goes public limited followed by an IPO, in which it allotted shares to MBL in lieu of technical and financial collaboration agreements.
The Company commenced the marketing of locally produced poultry vaccines.
Financial and technical separation from MBL.
Expansion of manufacturing capacity fourfold.
Launch of poultry and large animal health products divisions.
• Received WHO-GMP certification and DSIR registration for the in-house R&D unit.
• Embarked to set up an animal vaccine manufacturing unit in Nepal.
Completed the World’s largest backyard poultry immunisation programme with GALVMED

Hester Biosciences was founded by Rajiv Gandhi. From releasing a single vaccine in 1997, he has led the company to become one of the largest animal vaccine producers in Asia. By diversifying the company’s offerings and understanding the transformational business environment, he has managed to grow Hester at an exponential rate. He was also awarded the Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year from the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) in 2016. Beyond the workplace, Rajiv likes aviation and enjoys avid discussions about history and politics. He is also a proud advocate of Indian culture.

Priya is responsible for streamlining Hester’s strategic direction and coordinating across all organisational functions. She formulates and implements policies, ensures that business objectives trickle down to each department, and works on filling interdepartmental gaps. Additionally, her undergraduate degree from Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology equips her to direct the company’s communications and branding. She recently completed her Post Graduation in Management for Family Business from Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad.
